The Show Me Mounted Shooters was originally founded in 2003 by John Dotson, George & Linda Hartman and Travis & Laura Smith (as the Show Me Shooters) to promote the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting in the Central Missouri area. The Smith family was forced to take several years off from the sport of mounted shooting to build a home and while the Hartman's and the Dotson's continued to compete the Show Me Shooters was still lacking members and was basically stagnant. In 2008 the original founding members as well as several new, motivated shooters came together to restart the club. The Bobbit family was a large part of the restart of the SMMS club, being a rodeo family they really helped recruit and garner more members, sponsors and fans. Currently the club is running strong and has a great membership of motivated shooters and horsemen & women who are dedicated to seeing it succeed!
